Find answers to common questions about our file conversion services
General Questions
ConvertHub is an online file conversion service that allows you to convert files from one format to another without installing any software. Simply upload your file, select the desired output format, and we'll handle the conversion for you. Once completed, you can download your converted file immediately.
No, you can use our basic conversion services without creating an account. Guest users get 1 free conversion per day with files up to 20MB. Creating a free account gives you 10 conversion credits with files up to 50MB. For unlimited conversions and larger files, check out our pricing plans.
Most conversions complete within seconds to a few minutes, depending on the file size and format complexity. Paid users get priority processing for faster conversions. You can also enable email notifications to be alerted when your conversion is ready.
Credits & Pricing
Credits are calculated based on two factors: conversion type and file size.
- Simple conversions (e.g., JPG to PNG, PDF to TXT) use 1 credit
- Complex conversions (e.g., PDF to Excel, LaTeX to PDF) use 2-3 credits
- Larger files have a size multiplier (e.g., files over 50MB use 3x credits)
You always see the exact credit cost before starting a conversion, so there are no surprises.
We offer two flexible pricing models:
Monthly Subscriptions:
- 300 credits/mo - $9
- 1,000 credits/mo - $19
- 2,000 credits/mo - $29 (Most Popular)
- 5,000 credits/mo - $49
- 12,000 credits/mo - $99
Subscription credits roll over as long as you stay subscribed, and you get files up to 2GB.
Pay-as-you-go:
- 200 credits - $10
- 700 credits - $20
- 1,500 credits - $30
- 3,000 credits - $50
- 8,000 credits - $100
Pay-as-you-go credits never expire and support files up to 500MB.
Pay-as-you-go credits: Never expire. Use them whenever you need.
Subscription credits: Roll over to the next month as long as you remain subscribed. If you cancel, unused credits expire at the end of your billing period.
Yes! You can have both a subscription and purchase additional pay-as-you-go credits. Your subscription credits are used first, and once those run out, pay-as-you-go credits kick in automatically. This gives you flexibility to handle unexpected usage spikes.
You won't be charged if a conversion fails. Credits are only deducted when your file is successfully converted and ready for download. If something goes wrong on our end, your credits remain untouched.
Yes, you can cancel your subscription at any time from your account dashboard. You'll continue to have access to premium features until the end of your current billing period. No long-term commitments required.
API
Yes! ConvertHub offers a REST API for developers to integrate file conversion into their applications. The API supports all conversion types available on the website and uses the same credit-based system.
To use the API, you need:
- A ConvertHub account
- An active subscription or pay-as-you-go credits
- An API key (generated from your Developer Dashboard)
Once set up, you can start making API calls immediately. Check our API documentation for integration guides and code examples.
API conversions use the same credit calculation as web conversions: based on conversion type and file size. The exact credit cost is returned in the API response, so you can track usage programmatically. Failed conversions don't consume credits.
API rate limits depend on your plan. Standard plans allow up to 60 requests per minute. For higher limits or enterprise needs, please contact us.

We do not access or view the content of your files except when necessary for troubleshooting.

You can also delete files immediately after downloading from your conversion history.
No, we never share your files with third parties. Your files are used solely for providing the conversion service. See our Privacy Policy for complete details.
Troubleshooting
Conversions may fail for several reasons:
- The file is corrupted or damaged
- The file format is not supported or misidentified
- The file is password-protected
- The file exceeds size limits for your plan
- Temporary server issues
Don't worry - failed conversions don't use any credits. Try again or contact support if the issue persists.
If you're having trouble uploading files:
- Check your internet connection
- Verify the file doesn't exceed your plan's size limit
- Try a different browser
- Clear your browser cache
- Disable browser extensions that might block uploads
Still having issues? Contact our support team.
Different file formats have different capabilities. When converting:
- Complex document formatting may change between formats
- Fonts may be substituted if not available
- Some lossy formats (like JPG) may reduce quality slightly
- Vector-to-raster conversions depend on resolution settings
We optimize for the best possible output, but some differences are inherent to format conversion.
